Professional & Personal Life

Anita Anderson has been a homeowner in The Town of Capitol Heights since 1990. She attended Florida A&M University and is completing her education in Business Administration at Strayer College. She is currently employed with the Department of Homeland Security and is most proud of being a devoted mother to three adult children, as well as an active and involved grandmother to four beautiful grandkids.

Anita is proud to have raised her family right here in the Town of Capitol Heights and wants to ensure this is a place her children and grandchildren can thrive. She believes that Capitol Heights has become a home for people of all walks of life, and that true community happens when we work together to support one another and see to it that everyone’s needs are met. It is her passion for community that has led Anita to run for office.

Anita cares deeply about the seniors and the youth in Capitol Heights. She believes the seniors are the shoulders on which we all stand, and the youth are the future of tomorrow. Anita has demonstrated a commitment to community service by being the first to hold the position of PTA President at William Hall Elementary and by serving as a volunteer for DC General Hospital’s Boarder Baby Project assisting babies born to mothers addicted to drugs and/or abandoned babies at the hospital.

Anita is committed to supporting and leading when it comes to decisions, initiatives, and legislation that will nurture, protect, and resource the seniors and youth in the Town of Capitol Heights. Above everything else, Anita has a deep faith in God and a love for others. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Glenarden. She is a neighbor, mother, sister, and friend to many in the Town of Capitol Heights.
